Google Virtual Reality

Today we traveled and explored the vast reaches of the universe- from the Milky Way to the Great Wall of China to the Great Barrier Reef and the Northern Lights.  Wow!  What a trip it was and we never left the comfort of the Bookman Science Lab.  Sharon Lone from SC Military Kids once again brought us an exciting science and technology activity.  Here we are enjoying the "virtual" sites!

Creating Circuits

Huge thanks to Sharon Lone, Operation Military Kid and 4H for bringing such great STEM activities to our Beacon Battle Buddies. This week our future electrical engineers made their way through 10 projects that created fans, music and lights.

Who Let the Dogs Out?

Well Ft Jackson did yesterday when the K-9 unit visited Beacon Battle Buddies. Leo and Dory, military working dogs, who are also both veterans of the war in Afghanistan demonstrated their skills at finding bombs and catching bad guys. Although she is one of the nicest people we know, Mrs. Mayer, agreed to play the part of a bad guy and got in the bite suit. What a great team player she is!

Exploring Strawberry DNA

Sharon Lone from Operation Military Kid was back to help us explore another science concept. We learned about plant cells and DNA, then we actually separated out the DNA and observed the double helixes.
